COLD & MOLD

MOLD- the ac has developed mold as many do but it is nearly impossible to clean and even though this should last me easily another 5 years it™€™s so blown out I am going to have to buy a different brand. They really need to consider that mold growth is going to happen and design these units in a way where you can easily break down and remove the compressor/electrical part to get into and soak/submerge the other parts. I now have severe headaches and more from the constant battle to try to clean which takes 4 hrs and doesn™€™t even get everything. If someone finally redesigns these I hope they take into account a way to remove the parts while the unit is installed for mid season cleaning. Installation- HEAVYYYY ™€¦ I understand they are naturally heavy and bulky but when I need a certain size to actually cool my apartment I literally can barely move this alone and absolutely can™€™t install alone, which is tough as I live alone so I need to hire someone. It would be nice if I™€™m the Modern day plastic filled world we could use lighter weight but equally sturdy materials like plastics to keep the weight manageable considering how awkwardly large they are. Also for my outdoor pots metal rusts out way faster than my plastic pots crack so whyyy are we using metal?! Bugs- Please consider designing these to keep bugs from so easily accessing the inside and building spider /hornet nests etc. Several times now I have had to battle this problem and again if I could easily take it apart to clean but I just have to use awkward tools none of which properly clean the unit hope for the best and usually just wait and deal w the bugs as they shoot out the ac for weeks. They™€™re so big a mouse can get in. COOLING - 5/5 this ac is a beast and going strong despite the salty air rusty out the back and despite the mold being cranked full steam into my lungs Noise- it™€™s pretty loud but mostly you get used to it, although after a few years it™€™s more noticeable as it it™€™s not a consistent sound. Overall it works well but gooooood luck cleaning it! Such a nightmare honestly please please companies pleaaaase switch to plastic or at least make the front and back removable while installed to properly clean these. I™€™ve been so sick from my mold allergy and this but I guess it™€™s that or heatstroke so.. :/

When the unit was installed it worked and cooled like expected. Less than six months later it™€™s a brick. The lights just blink and the unit beeps but won™€™t turn on. Waiting to hear back about the warranty but it™€™s 94 degrees today.

Again, we purchased 2 window unit ACs - the fit and finish leaves a lot to be desired. The A/C cools but the buttons don't always activate properly using the remote. Most of the unit is plastic and the side curtain foam panels are so cheaply made. If you stick your fingernail into it, there is a hole made easily. The sleep pad feature DOES not work as it states in the manual on page 5. When I inquired, I was told that my paper manual must be outdated.

The air blows cold but it doesn't seem to check the air temperatures, I mostly have to change the temperature down a couple of degrees then back to the temperature I had it on and it will finally start to work. I keep the filter clean daily because I have dogs and they kick up dust.

It is quieter than my last AC while also being bigger. The display only lights up when I'm adjusting the speed, mode, or temperature then turns itself off. That was a plus that I didn't think of when selecting a unit. I never realized how bright and annoying the display was on my last unit until I got this one going that first night. The install was very simple but I do suggest having a second person help as the unit can be awkward to handle by yourself. I've only had it running for a short while in the month of June so I can't comment on the longevity yet. This review is here for the #sweepstakes but the review is real. A positive review was not required. This is my second purchase from Conn's and I'm sure it will be as painless as the first one. I purchased it online and picked it up at the store. They put it in my vehicle without me having to ask, which I appreciate. Tip: After you install it go to your local big box hardware store and buy a 2ftx2ft 1inch thick foam insulation board. It is real easy to cut. Use it for better insulation on the sides.
