I have had this model AWHR50LBQ1 for less than two years and it already stopped working. GE won't replace it, only offered a rebate for not even half the cost of a new one. This is junk and you get no help from GE.

I bought two de humidifiers to replace two GE units that failed one after 30 months and one that failed after 6 weeks. I purchased the new units because the warranty only applied to GE replacements. I am pleased to see that the new units are a substantial redesign from the previous units.

This is my second GE 50L dehumidifier. The first one (ADEL50; s/n F50001938278), bought on 9/19//2022 worked quite well in my basement, but it quit on after two years. It can be turned on, but it won't pump water anymore. Its "empty" light kept flashing; but there is NO water to be emptied. HELP! The new model is Wifi empowered. I am waiting for my grown son to help me connect it to my Wifi network at home.

I wish the digital readout of the actual humidity would show the actual reading instead of only changing every 5 points. In other words, I set the dehumidifier at 45. When the humidity reaches 50 the digital reading reads 50 and the machine turns on. When the the humidity reaches 40 the digital reading reads 40 and the machine turns off. So the digital readings do not change 1 point at a time, instread they change every 5 points. Everything says this is a 50 pint machine. The water bucket seems smaller than my previous GE 50 pint dehumidifier.

Have owned for 1 week and so far so good. It is very quiet when running and draws a alot of moisture out of the air very quickly. A nice perk is it puts out a good amount of heat, I'm sure I'm paying for that heat but it has made our basement noticibly warmer. The ultimate test will be longevity. Unfortunately dehumidifiers seem to last only a few years so I hope we have better luck with GE!

We bought this four our basement after the last one (not GE) died after 1 1/2 years. So far so good. Very quiet and efficient. My only complaint is the collection tank is very small, so until we get it hooked up to a draining hose I'm emptying it a lot.

We bought this in July 2023. It worked well for one season. We tried using it this season, but it wouldn™™t work. We went through the troubleshooting tips in the manual and still no joy. I called GE support. Since it™™s a dehumidifier, they were not going to waste any time trying to troubleshoot it with us over the phone. Now the warranty process starts. This is the process: 1. Please send a picture of the receipt and model/serial number tag. 2. After I™™ve received this information, I will process your Good Will Certificate or rebate. 3. You can purchase your new GE unit within 24hrs after you have received confirmation that your certificate has been processed. 4. Once you™™ve purchased your new appliance, you will then mail in a copy of the new receipt along with the Certificate that you received in the mail. (The address will be listed on the certificate). The rebate is valid for 90 days. Once you™™ve mailed this in, we will reimburse you in the form of a check. This process will take 6-8 weeks. So, if the new dehumidifier is cheaper than the original one, GE doesn™™t give me the difference. If the new dehumidifier is more expensive than the original one, GE doesn™™t give me the difference. If the new dehumidifier breaks, I have to play this game all over again. However, the warranty on the second system is just the remainder of the one-year warranty I had on the first unit. If the second unit breaks, then I'm out of luck.

Bought this after having issues with so many other Dehumidifiers. This one is Perfect for dehumidifying my 1800 SqFt basement. It empties into a small pump and keeps the basement around 45-50% Humidity! The coils don't freeze up. It restarts after a power outage. It was a bit difficult to get set up with Wifi, and I am very tech savvy. The app is a bit clunky. This dehumidifier worked great for the first week or two, but then it started getting SUPER noisy. Now every time we run it it is extremely noisy. This is located in our basement and it's so noisy that we can hear it on the first floor of our home and need to turn it off. Very disappointed.

The bucket fits very tight in the unit. When I have to remove it to empty, it's always a struggle to get it loose. The bucket is full and if you aren't extremely careful it will spill drips on the floor before you can get a hold of the flip up handle. In my opinion this is a very poor design. I shouldn't need to deal with spilled water every time. I'm also confused when it doesn't always kick in to start at the humidity level I set it for.

Pretty happy with the auto dehumidifier functionality so far, I™™ve had it for about a month. I have it set at 45% and it seems to be maintaining a pretty consistent humidity level, definitely pulling a decent amount of moisture out of the air. I would give it 5 stars if the Wi-Fi functionality worked better, it™™s been kind of disappointing. It™™s within about 10 feet of my router and shows one bar of signal in the app. I initially had trouble even keeping it connected for more than a day or two without having to remove it from the app and re-setup the connection when I had it about 20 feet from my router.

Unfortunately, it doesn't have something to show you the water level in the bucket. This would be super helpful so you can see how full the bucket is. Using this product to dehumidify an 800 sq. ft. cement floored crawl space. Bought it especially for the "SmartHQ" access so I could monitor the humidity of the space and how/if the unit was working properly. This was important as the crawl space is inconvenient to access. Tried different humidity settings and settled on 45. The unit is able to maintain this humidity running time to time and was running more frequently when set lower...your mileage may vary. Also using the "Smart Dry" fan setting so it only runs when the dehumidify feature is running. Once the area was dried out it uses around 2-3kwh per day of electricity to maintain it in the summer. There seems to be a bug or irregularity in the SmartHQ iPhone app as illustrated in the attached photos. You can turn the unit off by pressing the "Power" button icon. However after pressing it the button goes away and the Status just says "Off >". How do you turn it back on?? You have to click on the right arrow to go the the Dehumidified Status page and then click on "Set" to turn it back on. If anyone from GE is reading this please file a bug report.

Other than a minor issue with the app/wifi setup, this has been a solid dehumidifier. Keeping my basement humidity at a solid 40-45%. Using the drain hose so don't have to empty it constantly. Will have to see how it holds up over time. I've never had one last more than 2 summers.

I would give a 4.5 star rating if possible. Pros: Very efficient operation in my finished basement application - I barely hear it running but it is doing a great job removing moisture. WiFi enabled so it tells me when the bucket needs to be emptied. Con: WiFi set up was difficult and the process did not agree with the instructions. I did ultimately succeed in setting it up. Bottom line: I am happy with my purchase and can recommend the unit.
