Short element life and unrepairable

This is the second cooktop where the back left burner went bad after just 2.5 years. Bought a new element to replace it as I did on my previous cooktop which I could repair but one side of the glass top was glued to the frame. Ultimately, cracked the glass top trying to release it from the glue. The glue made it unrepairable. Had to buy a new cooktop. I'm out another $600. Nice planned obsolescence. These cooktops are becoming cheaper and cheaper but still the lowest price. When this one dies I will have to consider changing brands.

Died after 2-3 years. Poor durability. It started making popping noises. Eventually, it died and blew out my circuit breaker too.

The electric stove was broken after just 3.5 years of use!!!!!!!!! The repair from GE estimate was the same price as a brand new, so I decided to buy a new electric stove.

GE Cooktop Burner Disappointment

From the beginning, I found flaws in my GE cooktop. The surface was extremely sensitive to most spills resulting in permanent discolorations. Even with special GE cleaning kits, I could not remove stains. Now, the entire right size fails to work at all. There is a recall I missed until now. Overall, I feel like this model is defective.

Turned on burner, it got hot then section near control knob pop with a loud crack, not covered because it looks like somthing dropped on it.

Week ago the big burner when I put it in low temperature mode always remained with the high temperature but on Thursday, 12/05/2024 I was cooking when I looked that it started to throw Sparks of fire
I turned it off and removed the fryer and then I turned it back on and it started throwing Sparks of fire again under the glass's since then it doesn't work it doesn't turn on
That scared me a lot.

We were told that the surface of the cooktop was instant cool. When you turned it off it was immediately cool. It is NOT. Very disappointed! Feel like we were mislead.

I™™m a cooker and love to do multiple things for me and my three kids. I can™™t cook rice, beans and chicken all at the same time because of the lack of slace. It™™s awful because of it.. I have 3 for the look,heat, and how easy it is to clean.

I was not used to this type of stove top and of course I boiled water over the first time I used it and got my towel stuck on the top trying to clean it up. It has never come clean and frankly, I'm really disappointed that it is so hard to keep clean.

The actual burner below the glass surface did not line up with the painted circle on the glass. It was completely misaligned and needed service to fix it. Caused whole cooktop to heat up and I burned my hand. Now that it is fixed, its still off by an inch.

I can't begin to tell you how much I HATE this cooktop. Ive used only GE appliances for 40 years, but this one really disappoints. The black shiney surface is literally impossible to clean, even with the recommended product. The stainless strip in front is already scratched in one month, using only smooth recommended cookware. Buffing daily with paper towel after cleaning and it is still a smeary mess. I feel like crying when I walk by it, knowing what I spent, and I'll have to keep it the rest if my life.

This is my second Cooktop. First I like the way it looks. Then I would give it high marks for range of heating- from melt to high.
I dropped a cast iron pot full of chili when I was putting it on a burner. The glass top cracked. I™™m embarrassed to admit that after 70 years of cooking I didn™™t acknowledge that I was weaker than I used to be. I could have easily divided the chili and added smaller amounts to the pot. I liked my previous Cooktop and glad that I was able to get another one.

Love my new cooktop! It works as expected. Now, customer service with GE has been an entirely different experience and one that WILL make me rethink the brand when I next have to purchase appliances. Have YOU ever tried to get in touch with GE? Darn near impossible. They finally responded to me when I messaged them on Facebook. Their website is horrendous. It would not let me register my appliances - which came in over the span of a month and a half - over the course of their deliveries. The website kept telling me my phone number already existed. Yes, of course, it does. I™™ve already established an account and registered the first of four appliances. GE had to register my appliances for me. And before you say ™sounds like user error™™ please, dear reader, try this Herculean effort for yourself. It cannot be done - unless someone has worked on their website. Customer Service is a make or break for me. While I like GE appliances (make), the customer service may just be a BREAK for me ultimately.

Great replacement for the 30 year old electric cook top. The different size burners are ideal for variety of cooking assignments. Hot surface indicator prevented contact with burn hazard.

Purchased on sale during black friday but would of veen a value at full price. Having two fast boil burner options really speeds up meal prep. Stainless steel edges add a nice touch and the non plastic dials are a definite non meltable upgrade.

Pros: Nice surface and quick heating!
Cons: I wish the printing on the surface was more distinct. I have to put glasses on to read the markings near the knobs. This replaces an older stove top, which was longer , so there is a sizable gap in the opening which is going to be challenging to fill. I thought this would be included with installation, but it was not. Is the power burst on the right bottom corner supposed to make the pan bounce and rattle?
