This microwave is an exact replacement for one that only lasted 16 months - and ™€œexploded!™€ Why would I choose the same one!? The first one lasted 10 years - so I™€™m betting this one might last. Also, installation was simple since the new one fit right in to brackets and exhaust vent. Of note, though all ovens were/are 1000 watts, the recent one seems more powerful.

Disappointed that this Microwave oven, a replacement for another GE Microwave oven a JVM3160RF5SS that suddenly failed after less then 7 years, did not just mount to the old mounting set up. What is wrong with your engineering that you failed to meet future GE replacements and did not try to keep the older mounting setup. I specifically bought this oven because I assumed that it was a "bolt-in" replacement. Boy was I wrong. And maybe I was wrong purchasing this one because the microwave that I feel prematurely failed was only used for six months at a time, the other six months we spend in another state. It should have lasted much longer.

This product is awful. I cannot cook anything longer than five minutes or two things back to back in a row because it somehow overheats and completely turns off then I have to wait at least 20 minutes for it to cool down in order to continue cooking anything else I strongly recommend you do not buy this product.

My review is regarding the installation process. The well qualified contractor said the ™€œpattern™€ that you lay inside the cabinet had the left/right indication backward. He ended up having to drill more holes in order to mount the oven. I can only pray that I won™€™t have any complaints once I start to use it.

Very poor vent fan performance.

Installed the JVM3160RF9SS a month ago and the microwave works well. The vent fan is rated for 300 cfm, but neither intake filter will hold a tissue, though the exhaust seems substantial. Confirmed fan orientation for ductless operation and noted only one of the two exhaust ports incorporates an exhaust filter. There is nothing on the actual microwave to inform the different reheat settings. Help gave me an email list as if I want a piece of paper taped onto my microwave. Shouldn't there be a sticker inside the door? The fingerprints are impossible to clear. When I first used it, it made an extremely loud sound like an electrical short and flashed a way brighter light than usual. The repairman could not find anything wrong. So far it has not occurred again, but I remain worried.

I have just received my new microwave so have barely used it, but I had a GE microwave previously and it worked fine-no problems until a couple months ago when the microwave did not cut off when opened-evidently door problem but could not check it out without removing it, so bit the bullet and bought a new one. Have had GE products in my kitchen since it was built in 2002.

Had one like it before and it was easy to use and esthetic. Wanted the same one and it's pretty similar and has the same features. Installation went smoothly because the space was the same. I was happy to have found the same size microwave.

Just OK-everything about this updated version is not as sturdy as the original-door is flimsy, turntable isn't as solid-all in all-GE has used cheaper components on this microwave. I doubt that it will last 10 years like the last one. Sorry, GE-not your best effort!

This is my third GE microwave. I must comment on the over the range light. It is very dim and not of much use. Can I purchase a brighter light? Otherwise the microwave is the same as the other two and is very nice.

The control panel doesn™€™t light up, unable to see numbers in a low light situation, and every time you use the microwave the blower vent turns on high, it is very noisy and irritating!

Print is too small difficult to see Difficult to read in less than well lighted kitchen - needs back lighting' Unintelligent Placement Surface Light should be at bottom-right-corner of whole panel, or at least main portion of panel, so it can be accessed in poor light or dark kitchen. No reasonable thought to usage was used in placement of various language control buttons It seems obvious that the poor placement of selections on control panel was never submitted to users to try and make suggestions. GE just doesn't care about user experience. If I had it to do over, I would never buy this microwave and I always caution others against it. Operationally, everything seems to be good.

When the microwave stops heating, it makes some rattling noises for a few seconds. I fear that like our previous two GE above range microwaves, it will not last a long time. I do not recall the rattling noises on the last two microwaves we had, but they both stopped working after a short time (approximately 5 years). We use the microwave constantly.

I purchased this microwave yesterday to replace my old GE microwave same model which lasted seven years. Hopefully, the new microwave will last a long time. So far, I have not experienced any problems. I like this microwave for its overall capacity and durability.

i hope this one last longer than the previous, identical microwave. I had it less than one year but GE wouldn't replace it. The Lowe's salesman tried his best to make that replacement happen but it was a no-go on GE's part. So, I had to buy another one and pay for the installation. I like it but it better not be another "lemon"!

Id love to give this 5stars but I feel I havent had or used this appliance enough to really know its quality. It looks appealing. Matches other stainless appliances that arent GE. Easy to read buttons, decent capacity size and power. Priced within my budget. This one replaced a GE so I was able to use the same mounting system, making install easy easy this time. Im using the interior vent which works as expected.

Purchased the item took me a little while to install it because of an arm injury finally got around to registering it also and now if we boil water or heat something that steams the microwave shuts off and stays off till something cools or dries out and then it shows power failure

The microwave is powerful, and the ventilation works well. The controls are not real user friendly and when you open and close the door, it sounds hollow and flimsy. I wanted basic, but it™€™s a little more basic than I thought it would be.

DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT. We owned this microwave for five months. One day, ten hours after the unit was last turned on, the microwave turned the fan on by itself . We realized after tha that the unit had become extremely hot inside and out for no apparent reason. Had we not been at home and in the kitchen, a fire would have occurred. GE sent out a technician who said this is a one in a thousand occurrence with the internal battery and re-set the microwave. We have no assurance it won't happen again but GE will not replace it.
