easy to use and features for everything

This is a very nice microwave that is plenty powerful and has easy to use features so you don't dry out food or blow it up. The fan is really nice as well. I hung it myself, I thought it was easy and the template it comes with it was spot on. I also think the quality is great as with all kitchenaid products that I've used and owned.

I love the sleek look of our new microwave, but please remember to turn on the fan if you place yours over a cook top. After about five months outs has warped a bit and cracked in one spot from the heat from below. We are now being very cautious when we are cooking, in order to preserve our microwaves good looks.

have had the unit for less than a month. satisfied so far. Minor complaints include inability to program the timer function beyond minutes and seconds so I can't use it in a function as a simple hour timer or extended cooking times at low power levels. This is an undercabinet unit, and the undercabinet lights are only on the back of the unit, and not particularly bright over the stovetop when on. I find the volume of the timer alarm is often to low, and I don't recognize or hear it in adjacent rooms where I often reside during timed cooking procedures.

So far so good!

I have had this for about a month, it replaced another KA microwave that died after about 5 years. I really like it so far. Its sturdier that the last one, it has a big metal handle-the last one the plastic handle broke and we had to glue it. I haven't been able to find any information on how to use the metal rack that came with it. I didn't think I could put metal in the microwave.

After only almost two years, the door latch started to malfunction. It first started as the door being closed but the microwave did not register it as closed. After a few months of that, the door would not latch at all. I bought it brand new only two years ago and kitchenaid will not do anything for me.

Just not made to last

We remodeled our kitchen about three years ago and purchased all new Kitchenaid appliances: range, overhead microwave, dishwasher and refrigerator. We haven't been happy with any of them. The fridge has made an awful rattling sound since the day we got it that local appliance technicians have never managed to fix, the dishwasher doesn't clean anywhere close to as well as my old (and I do mean OLD) Kenmore did, the oven takes F.O.R.E.V.E.R to heat up, and now the microwave won't run unless you program the time before closing the door...and the light inside doesn't come on until the door has been open for a few seconds, if it comes on at all. I'm so disappointed in this brand it makes me want to cry. We aren't made of money and expected to get years of use out of these appliances. That is clearly not going to happen.
